Charting New Horizons: MAMA Suite’s Journey Toward Impact and Growth

On November 28, 2024, leaders, experts, and changemakers gathered at the Pan African Savings and Loans (PASL) head office for a pivotal moment in the MAMA program's journey. The MAMA Suite Assessment for Scalability and Sustainability Workshop was a platform to reflect on achievements, address challenges, and plan the next chapter for this groundbreaking initiative.

Launched to bridge the financial inclusion gap for women entrepreneurs, smallholder farmers, and the youth, the MAMA program combines tailored financial products with value-added services like business training, health screening, and mentorship. It is more than a financial tool. It is a lifeline for those traditionally left out of formal financial systems.

Participants celebrated the program’s successes during the workshop, such as effective job placements and meaningful community engagement. Yet, they also faced the challenges of such ambitious initiatives, including enhancing lending processes and tailoring products to better meet client needs.

The discussions were forward-looking and solutions-driven. From refining eligibility criteria to scaling impactful services, the stakeholders outlined actionable recommendations to propel the program forward. The event concluded with a shared commitment to developing an operational plan, ensuring that MAMA continues its good work and grows its reach and impact.

The MAMA program is a testament to the power of partnerships and focused action. With renewed energy and a clear roadmap, its future promises to unlock even greater opportunities for those it serves.

This initiative remains a cornerstone of PASL’s mission to promote financial inclusion and empower women entrepreneurs. Through its partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, CapPlus is proud to support this transformative program, which aligns perfectly with its vision of enabling economic growth and opportunity for underserved populations.
