Thompson Abagna is a seasoned expert in MERL, CLA, MIS, Data Analytics, and Capacity Development. He has broad experience working with Government Institutions, the Private Sector, and Development Agencies. Currently, he manages MERL for the FIRST+II program, which aims to create 307,000 jobs for young people and women in rural Ghana.
He specializes in designing sustainable data management systems, conducting in-depth qualitative and quantitative research, and overseeing program implementation at all levels. He is skilled in gathering insights on advocacy and creating impactful reports and presentations for policy and planning.
Thompson’s career spans Ghana’s public, private, and international development sectors, where he has led data collection, monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities. He has developed MIS tools and managed MEL for institutions such as MoFA/IFAD, MAPRONET, ARDA, NHIA, USAID, Palladium, and the ACDI VOCA Ghana-USAID ADVANCE II Project, with a focus on agricultural value chains.
Before September 2024, he coordinated MEL and knowledge management for the USAID-supported Feed the Future Market Systems and Resilience Activity in Northern Ghana. Thompson is committed to professional excellence, poverty reduction, and empowering teams through coaching and mentoring.
